Dakota Johnson shaped up for Fifty Shades Freed by doing hot yoga, juicing and using ankle weights, trainer reveals
The 28-year-old worked with personal trainer Ramona Braganza, whose first celebrity client was Jessica Alba
ANYONE who's seen the Fifty Shades films will have noticed that Dakota Johnson's character gets her kit off A LOT.
So it's no surprise that the actress was keen to whip herself into shape ahead of shooting.
Now her personal trainer Ramona Braganza, founder of , has revealed how she went about honing her enviable figure.
It turns out the second film in the trilogy - Fifty Shades Darker - was filmed at the same time as Fifty Shades Freed, in February 2016.
The cast and crew spent five months straight shooting five days a week in Vancouver, Canada, before finishing up with a fortnight in France.
Ramona, who has also trained Jessica Alba, Halle Berry, Amanda Seyfried, Anne Hathaway, and Kate Beckinsale, was recruited by the Fifty Shades team after Dakota took a shine to her during an interview.
Dakota was already in great shape, so Ramona's focus was "building out her shoulders, keeping her butt, and toning her abs and arms" with a main goal of getting her "moving 30 minutes a day".
Ramona told : "During the first few months of filming, we went more aggressive, but later on, we cut back to just 30 minutes."
She also made sure she varied Dakota's routine so that she wasn't doing the same exercises every day in order to tone her muscles, rather than build muscle bulk.
A typical workout consisted of a five to 10 minute warm-up on a treadmill, followed by three exercises in a row, then another cardio session.
Ramona kept it fresh by implementing dance-inspired moves, Pilates, kickboxing and yoga, while Dakota often did hot yoga classes elsewhere.
Ankle weights also played a huge part in Dakota's training regime in order to raise the intensity of a workout.
She also used light dumbbells, a Pilates ring and body weights, with the aim of training one side of the body at a time.
Ramona encouraged her to do moves like single-leg squats to improve her balance and stability.
Dakota did most of her workouts in her trailer - which was over 50 feet long - and adapted them according to her schedule.
"Toward the end of filming, when there were very long shoot days and she got less sleep, we would sometimes meet for a stretch instead of a full workout," said Ramona.
"She loved doing yoga moves like downward-facing dog for its lengthening effects."
Food also played a part in Dakota's fitness regime - apparently the actress is "big on juices" and feasted on meals that included lean meats, quinoa and vegetables.
