This optical illusion could change how you see colour for months…so are YOU brave enough to try it?

THIS mind bending optical illusion could do more than just puzzle you, the effects could last for months, scientists warn.

The viral image could affect how you see colour and the after effects can really last.

This is due to an effect called the McCollough effect, that causes your eyes to think that black and white grids are actually coloured.

In order to recreate the phenomenon, you need to stare at the coloured grates equally for three minutes or so.

After a while the black and white lines will appear with a pink tinge.

For some people the effect was so strong that they saw black and white as red and green up to three months later, this is known as the contingent aftereffect.

Apparently you can create the reverse effect by rotating the original image 90 degrees clockwise... give it a go and see what you think.
