What is the Cinderella diet?

The controversial weight loss trend originated in Japan, and helps people to calculate their “Cinderella goal weight”, so that they can look like the fictional character.

The Cinderella weight aims for a body mass index of 18, which is officially classified as underweight on the BMI scale.

Dividing how heavy you are in kilograms with your height in metres squared will reveal your BMI number.

The challenge is allegedly becoming more popular in Japan, and is now catching on elsewhere over Twitter.

What is the BMI weight calculator?

The body mass index is a formula used to decipher whether patients are of a healthy weight.

You must input information about your height and weight to work out if you have a healthy BMI.

Measurements may also reveal that you are clinically classed as underweight, overweight or obese.

While the body mass index is regularly used to establish whether or not patients are an unhealthy size, there are limitations to the rule.

The indicator doesn’t take the weight of bones or muscle into consideration.

This means that muscular adults or athletes may be classed as overweight, despite not having much body fat.
