Oscars 2018 red carpet best dressed sees Margot Robbie and Jennifer Lawrence bring the glamour at the 90th Academy Awards

ALL eyes were on the red carpet on Sunday as the biggest names in film descended on Hollywood for the 90th Academy Awards.

Hosted by late-night US talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, the prestigious ceremony was held at the Dolby Theatre in the heart of La La Land.

While not everyone could scoop a coveted gong, when it came to dressing for the occasion, these glamorous stars were definitely winners.

I, Tonya star Margot Robbie, 27, wowed in an ivory Chanel gown. She said: “I can’t believe I’m wearing a Haute Couture dress made for me by Karl Lagerfeld  It’s a fantasy. I feel like myself but still as glamorous as I’ve ever dreamed I would at the Oscars."

Meanwhile, Gal Gadot, 32, turned heads in a silver Givenchy flapper-inspired dress. The Wonder Woman hero completed the glittering look with silver stilettos and a Tiffany diamond necklace.

Jennifer Lawrence, 27, stunned in a gold Dior dress, Roger Vivier heels and Niwaka jewellery. The Red Sparrow star styled her blonde tresses into mermaid-like ringlets for the black tie bash.

Black Panther star Lupita Nyong’o wowed in custom atelier Versace. The 35-year-old, styled by Micaela Erlanger, paired the look with a Versace clutch handbag, Alexandre Birman heels and Niwaka fine jewellery.

"This look encapsulates a strong, powerful and confident woman," said Erlanger.

And, Sandra Bullock, 53, made a rare red carpet appearance in her sequin halter neck frock. The Miss Congeniality starlet wowed in the Louis Vuitton number, which she accessorised with a smart black box clutch.

Away from the dazzling dress trend, other A-listers decided to rock a bold colour head-to-toe.

Jennifer Garner looked a beauty in a blue Atelier Versace gown, Versace shoes and Piaget jewellery. The 45-year-old stunner's electric cobalt gown featured an asymmetric neckline and dramatic chiffon train.

I, Tonya actress Allison Janney, 58, turned the red carpet, well, red in her dramatic Reem Acra scarlet number that she paired with a co-coordinating clutch. The Hollywood icon picked up the gong for Best Supporting Actress.

And, Ashley Judd, 49, stunned in a custom Badgley Mischka jewel-toned purple strapless gown. She walked down the red carpet with fellow Harvey Weinstein accuser Mira Sorvino.

 

Mexican beauty Eiza Gonzalez, 28, looked anything but mellow in her bright yellow Ralph Lauren design that had daring cut-outs along the sides.

And, Viola Davis, 52, had a major pink moment in her hot pink Michael Kors gown, paired with a matching clutch and hoop earring.

But she wasn't the only star to turn the red carpet pink.

Saoirse Ronan, 23, looked pretty in a strapless pink satin Calvin Klein dress and matching shoes. The Ladybird star styled her blonde hair into a chic bob and kept make-up to a minimum.

Kristin was joined by her E! colleague Giuliana Rancic, 43, who looked ethereal in her one-shoulder white and beige dress with floral designs.

Helen Mirren, 72, wowed in a form-fitting cobalt blue gown and sapphire jewels.

Helen, who presented an award at the gala, stood tall in a pair of black open-toe heels, while a blue pillbox clutch remained in her hand as she posed for photographers.

Jane Fonda turned heads in her elegant get-up. The 80-year-old went for head-to-toe white and droplet diamond earrings.

Meanwhile, Meryl Streep, 68, was on red alert in her bright red dress that featured a V-neckline and belted waist.

Gary Oldman won the Best Actor gong for his turn as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, while Three Billboards star Frances McDormand picked up the award for Best Actress.

Ashley, 49, claims shamed Weinstein invited her to his hotel room before asking if she wanted to watch him shower.

She also said she promised to have sex with Harvey Weinstein at a later date to stop him sexually harassing her.

Oscar-winning actress Mira alleged that she was harassed by Weinstein at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 1995.
