What do we know about Meghan Markle's wedding dress?

Meghan Markle's wedding dress is from the Givenchy design house - named after French designer Hubert de Givenchy.

Givenchy has also famously created dresses for Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Collins.

The designer of Meghan's dress was British designer Clare Waight Keller.

The dress has an understated design with an underskirt in triple silk organza and a long flowing train.

Who is Meghan Markle's Wedding Dress designer Clare Waight Keller?

Clare Waight Keller, 47, is a British designer from Birmingham.

She has previously worked at Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren.

In 2017 she joined Givenchy as artistic director of haute couture.

Meghan chose to work with Keller “for her timeless and elegant aesthetic, impeccable tailoring, and relaxed demeanour."

What was Kate Middleton's wedding dress and did it cost more than Meghan's?

Kate Middleton wore a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown when she tied the knot with Prince William in 2011.

Like Meghan's dress it also had long sleeves but was more embellished with a lace design pattern.

We don't yet know how much Meghan's dress cost but Royal expert Katie Nicholl revealed that Meghan would go for a dress with a far more modest price tag than Kate’s.

Katie explained to : “There have been reports that [Meghan’s] considering spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on a wedding dress. I think that’s incredibly unlikely.

“Kate Middleton's dress is rumoured to have cost £250,000. It was her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, who paid for that bill.

“I think it is very unlikely that Meghan would spend more than that and in doing so try and upstage a future queen.

"I don’t think she's going to want to get royal life off to a start where she's criticised for spending something like £400,000 on a wedding dress.”
