WEARING sunscreen is the number one rule of skincare and it's all too easy to forget .

The cult favourite La Roche-Posay sunscreen was pitted against 72 other protection products in The Annual Sunscreen Guide research.

Testing out the UVA and UBV ray protection the experts found this high coverage sunscreen is the best on the market because of its active chemical ingredients.

The French dermatologists behind the super successful skincare brand have incorporated avobenzone into the formula, which does a better job of protecting the skin’s surface than traditional mineral suncreen’s zinc oxide.

Better still, the Comfort Cream fulfils its sun protection promise with flying colours and came out with another 100 per cent score for the fourth year in a row.

Priced at £16.50 for a 50ml tube, this non-greasy formula also contains antioxidants while still offering the highest and most effective sun protection on the market.

As part of the survey’s annual research, Consumer Report also found that “of the 73 lotions, sprays, sticks, and lip balms in our ratings this year, 24 tested at less than half their labelled SPF number.”

So when it comes to protecting your complexion, it is definitely worth slathering your skin in the best sunscreen around.

Sunscreen 101

  • SPF should be worn everyday to avoid sun damage
  • Use one teaspoon for the entire face and neck and six for the rest of the body
  • Reapply sunscreen every two hours when spending time in the sun
  • Suncreen should be applied to dry skin about 15 minutes before sun exposure to allow the product to sink in
  • Unless your sunscreen is water-resistant, re-apply sun cream every 40-80 minutes after swimming or sweating
