This is why Princess Eugenie is allowed to have an Instagram account…but Meghan Markle isn’t
She's the only British royal to have a personal Instagram, and everyone wants to know why
THE royals aren't known to have personal Instagram accounts but Princess Eugenie seems to be an exception to the rule.
Her older sister Princess Beatrice of York, 29, doesn’t have Instagram but Eugenie, 28, created her Instagram account back in March 2017. So, is she being a rule-breaker?
Apparently not.
Although the sisters both work full-time, with Eugenie being an associate art director of a contemporary-art gallery, they don't fulfill royal engagements in an official capacity, so they are not 'working' royals.
This means can follow different rules to that of Meghan Markle now she’s married in to the family.
Princess Eugenie has said “I hope to use this platform to share the causes, passions and people close to my heart.”
She has only posted 19 pictures in the last year, but she now boasts over 166k followers, and there’s much speculation as to why she's the only member of the British royal family to have an account.
Earlier this year in January following the announced engagement of actress Meghan Markle, 36, to Prince Harry, 33, Meghan deleted her entire social media presence.
In December 2017 the month after the announcement was made, Meghan had a whopping 1.9 million followers on Instagram, 350k on Twitter and 800k on Facebook.
Although deleting social media would be a nightmare for most of us, this seems to be part of the package when marrying a Prince.
Can you imagine the amount of likes that Givenchy gown would have racked up in minutes?
There’s no known royal rule about social media being forbidden but it tends to be the official protocol, and Meghan followed suit.
Eugenie's sister, Princess Beatrice, may not have Instagram but she uses Twitter from her account @YorkieBea to post pictures and there are also official accounts such as @RoyalFamily and @KensingtonRoyal that are used on behalf of the royal family for news, pictures and updates.
We wonder if Princess Eugenie will use her Insta to show off her wedding snaps when she gets married later this year in October to Jack Brooksbank? It’s worth a follow to see the first pics of all our faves including little Princess Charlotte and her brothers Prince George and Louis.
See how Meghan has changed since she met Harry, including her handwriting.
Also, the title Meghan and Harry's children will have will depend on what sex they are. Is this fair?
