Who is Guy Pelly? Prince Louis’ godfather and William’s close childhood friend
Guy Pelly is one Prince Louis' three godfathers
TODAY is the day that we will finally see Prince Louis for the first time since April.
But while we try to contain our excitement over the adorable Royal tot, here’s everything you need to know about Guy Pelly – the man who has just been named Prince Louis’ godfather.
Who is Guy Pelly?
Guy Pelly is a childhood friend of both Prince William and Harry.
The 34-year-old aristocrat formerly ran a string of London nightclubs including Royal-favourite Mahiki in Kensington as well as Public, Whisky Mist and Tonteria.
In 2016, Guy ran the London Marathon in memory of his late school friend Henry van Straubenzee who was killed in a car crash outside the Prince’s Berkshire school – he raised over £5,000 for children in Uganda.
Guy graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in land management and is married to Holiday Inn heiress Lizzy Wilson.
What is his relationship to the Royal Family?
As the son of Princess Diana’s close friend Lady Carolyn Herbert, Guy has been in the Princes’ lives since they were children.
Once dubbed a party animal, Guy famously dressed up in a Nazi soldier costume with Prince Harry in 2005.
He also organised Prince William’s 2011 stag do before his wedding to Kate Middleton.
Why has he been named Prince Louis’ godfather?
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have forged their own tradition when choosing godparents for their three children.
Instead of opting for immediate family members, the Royal couple have instead chosen close friends and former Royal aides.
Guy is sharing the godfather honour with William’s other close friend Nicholas van Cutsem and Harry Aubrey-Fletcher.
