Prince Harry and Meghan Markle escape drama with her father Thomas with secret mini-moon to George and Amal Clooney’s Lake Como luxury pad
The glamorous newlyweds are said to have spent time with the actor and his human rights barrister wife
WHERE do you go on a summer mini-break if you are Meghan Markle and Prince Harry? To the Clooney’s house apparently.
The royal couple reportedly escaped the recent drama with the Duchess of Sussex's dad Thomas, by enjoying a secret holiday at George and Amal Clooney’s incredible Lake Como pad.
The glamorous newlyweds are said to have spent time with the actor and his human rights barrister wife, along with their 10-month-old twins Alexander and Ella.
According to local media reports, police were on hand to ensure the visit to the 18th century Villa Oleandra was kept secure and private.
The couples are close, with the Clooneys being part of the star-studded royal wedding in May, and Meghan and Amal are said to have both used celebrity stylist Miguel Perez in the past.
“On Saturday night they had an al-fresco dinner looking out on to the lake with a group of friends and just relaxed.”
The royal couple are said to have arrived by private jet on Thursday evening, leaving on Sunday at 6pm from Malpensa airport.
On Saturday night, George pulled out all the stops by hosting a gala dinner with around 15 guests that lasted until the early hours.
The actor, 57, splashed out on the stunning Villa Oleandra, located in the village of Laglio, in 2002, and paid £10million (€11.7 million).
The luxury pad comes with 25 rooms, an outdoor theatre, a swimming pool, a gym, tennis court, a pizza room and a large garage for his motorcycles.
The Lake Como area is famed for its celebrity clientele, with fashion designer Donatella Versace being one of George’s neighbours.
When the Clooneys aren't residing in Lake Como, they usually live in a £20million mansion in Sonning-on-Thames in Berkshire.
The trip comes as Meghan's dad, Thomas Markle, has hit out with a series of interviews in recent weeks in which he labelled the Royal Family 'cult-like' and similar to Scientologists.
Meghan and Prince Harry are said to be refusing to be drawn into a war of words with her father following the criticism.
Markle is not believed to have spoken with her dad, 74, since shortly after the wedding when she and Prince Harry scolded him for secretly staging photoshoots.
George met Amal, 40, after a mutual friend brought her to his home in Lake Como - where they would later marry.
He popped the question with a £600,000 ring after cooking the human-rights lawyer a romantic meal.
At the royal wedding in Windsor, heartthrob George is said to have twirled with newlywed Meghan before dancing with her sister-in-law Kate Middleton hours after Meghan and Harry tied the knot at Westminster Abbey.
Clooney and his stunning wife Amal joined 200 guests for the celebrations at Frogmore House.
Kensington Palace has been contacted for comment.
