Meghan Markle’s estranged brother Thomas says he wants his family to be treated ‘like the Middletons’
SINCE Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot earlier this year, the drama surrounding The Duchess of Sussex's family has been never-ending.
And this time, Meghan's estranged half-brother Thomas Markle Jr. has come forward to offer his thoughts on the ongoing saga - and it turns out he's got some pretty strong opinions on Kate Middleton's family.
In an interview this week, the 58-year-old questioned why his relatives hadn't been welcomed into the royal family with open arms - when Kate Middleton's were accepted into The Firm years before.
Thomas told the : "They have brought outsiders in before in the past like with the Middletons.
"I don't see why our family is any different.
"Kensington Palace could have got involved a long time ago – as soon as they announced their engagement."
"They've dealt with this kind of stuff for a long time and why they did it this way, that's the big question? Why?" Thomas continued.
"They could have looked after my dad and he would have been happy."
Meghan, 37, is thought to currently be in the US, visiting friends and family.
And while many questioned whether the royal will be paying a visit to her father, Thomas Markle Sr., it's expected the only family member Meghan will be seeing, is her mother Doria Ragland, who lives in Los Angeles.
Doria was the only member of Meghan's family to attend her wedding to Prince Harry in May - something Thomas Jr. cannot understand.
In fact, he referenced Kate's uncle, Gary Goldsmith, who was caught with cocaine at his Spanish villa - La Maison de Bang Bang - in 2009 and later in 2017, was charged with assault after an incident with his wife.
'I think Uncle Gary and I would get along just fine," explained Thomas Jr.
"It would have been nice to at least get an invite to the wedding like he was.
"I don't need to be brought into all the events or whatever but it would have been nice to be brought into that."
Nearly all of Kate Middleton's family were present at her wedding to Prince William in 2011.
Thomas, who says he is making more effort with his father since he found out about his health problems earlier this year, believes Meghan "should have handled this differently".
"I think Meghan should have handled this differently," he said.
"I think Meghan should have handled this from the beginning and I think it got ignored and swept under the carpet for so long, it's a shame where it's ended up, especially between her and my father.
"She's capable of doing anything, she's just got to want to do it. If she wants to make amends, by all means, she can do that. But she's got to want to do it."
"When I found out about his health and his heart attack, that struck a nerve with me and I felt the urgency to get in contact with him," he continued.
'He changes his number a lot and I didn't have his new number so I ended up going down there [to Mexico] to find him to make sure he was alright.
"He's had a rough life, the studios take a lot out of you and he didn't look like he was in as good a shape as before so it did worry me."
