David Beckham will be joining Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on part of their royal tour
MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry seem to like hobnobbing with the stars, and recently spent time with George and Amal Clooney at their Lake Como villa.
It was reported that Meghan helped Amal look after 10-month-old twins, Ella and Alexander, while Harry and George played basketball.
Now it seems they could be spending time with another famous couple – David and Victoria Beckham.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are due to go on their royal tour this autumn, and will be going to Australia to attend the Invictus Games, which Harry set up for injured and disabled army veterans.
Now football ace David has been named ambassador to the games, so he’ll be heading Down Under in October to spend time with the newlyweds in the royal box.
David shared the news in a post on Instagram, writing: "I’ve been lucky enough to meet and work with many serving, veteran and wounded British armed forces personnel over the years and I’ve been humbled by the courage, resilience and spirit shown by each and every one of them.
"So, I’m incredibly proud to announce I will be an Ambassador for this year’s Invictus Games in Sydney. The entire Invictus Games team, led by the Duke of Sussex, has achieved remarkable things in such a short space of time, using sport as a powerful force to rehabilitate and unite and I can’t wait to be part of the energy and the excellence of the Games this year."
Although he doesn’t say whether wife Victoria will be joining him in Sydney, it would be a chance for her to form a bond with fashion fan Meghan and get closer to the couple.
Who knows, she may even get the Duchess to wear some of her next VB collection – and there’s no better ad for a brand than that.
Victoria and David were present at Meghan and Harry’s wedding in May, and David has formed a close friendship with Harry’s older brother William, after they collaborated on the 2012 Olympic bid.
But Harry shares a past with Victoria.
When he was 13, he met the Spice Girls at a concert and South Africa and he was pictured blushing and looking starstruck as Victoria held his hand.
Sweet.
Harry launched the Invictus Games in 2014, to give injured and sick service personnel a chance to compete in various activities, including archery, indoor rowing, powerlifting and wheelchair basketball.
This Sydney games will run from October 20 to 27.
