From WOW Good Bacteria to multivitamin tablets, we test prebiotics and probiotics that help relieve anxiety
Plus, treat yourself to some face mist beauty treatments with our top picks
HEALTHY doses of good bacteria, known as probiotics, and prebiotics – the fibre that they feed off – can help with anxiety and stress.
That’s because happy hormone serotonin – the key to good moods – is created in the gut.
Here we look at those prebiotics and probiotics as well as face mist beauty treatments.
Drink
- £2 for 250ml from
WOW Good Bacteria has just launched. It’s an organic blend of cold-pressed juice, filtered water and one billion probiotics.
With no more than 20 calories per bottle, it’s a great way to get the whole family taking probiotics.
Comes in raspberry and apple and orange and mango flavours. Terrifyingly bright in colour but tastes OK – quite weak, more like a fresh fruity, watery squash.
Powder
- £9.99, for a month’s supply from
Bimuno Daily is a prebiotic powder proven to improve digestion in just 14 days.
It contains a special fibre that feeds and increases good bacteria and flushes out bad (toxic) bacteria that live in your digestive system.
This comes in handy individual sachets that don’t have any taste.
They don’t dissolve properly in a cold drink but if you add to a hot one it somehow makes them a bit creamier.
Multitasker
- £6.95 for 30 capsules from
A multivitamin tablet can cover all your needs. Proven’s multivitamin with minerals, friendly bacteria and CoQ10 – which neutralises free radicals and keeps skin healthy – contains 2.5billion friendly bacteria per capsule.

Budget – Bioderma, Hydrabio Eau de Soin
- £9.50, 50ml from Boots —
An intensely moisturising mist formulated to hydrate and protect from UV rays simultaneously.
Unlike the other clear sprays, this has a hint of white like a regular SPF.
I found this formula was too heavy for my oily skin but a great option for normal/dry skin types.
Mid – Pestle and Mortar, Balance Facial Mist
- £28.00, 80ml from pestleandmortar.com —
A fine misting facial spritz infused with amino acids, magnesium and bitter root extract to retain moisture and regenerate skin cells.
It was hydrating enough to replace my morning moisturiser and balanced my oily skin really well.
Beautifully packaged in a glass bottle, too. My favourite.
Luxury – BYBI, Mega Mist
- £26, 50ml from bybi.com —
A vitamin-infused toner in the form of a mist to soothe, cool, refresh and hydrate the skin.
Among its ingredients are hyaluronic acid, aloe and pomegranate extract and is 100 per cent natural which is always a plus.
It can be used as a replacement for your traditional toner – and as a bonus, it is so much easier to apply.
Alternatively, it can be used to cool and moisturise parched skin.
