Princess Diana always used to do this thoughtful thing after receiving a gift… and now Prince William does it too
PRINCESS Diana passed down one of her most thoughtful habits to her son Prince William, according to an interview with the late royal.
In a 1991 interview with Royal biographer Andrew Morton, Princess Diana revealed that she had always been taught to do one thing after receiving a present as a child... and ensured her eldest son did it too.
In the book , the late Princess reflected on her family's tradition of always writing "thank-you letters" almost immediately after receiving a present.
Reflecting on her childhood festivities, Diana said: "My father used to sit us down every Christmas and birthday and we had to write out thank-you letters within 24 hours."
Revealing how this thoughtful childhood habit translated into her adult life, Diana added: "And now if I don't, I get into a panic.
"If I come back from a dinner party or somewhere that needs a letter, at midnight I'll sit down and write it there and not wait until the next morning because it would wrestle with my conscience."
What's more, Diana also took a note out of her father's book and made sure her eldest son does it too.
Giving insight into her parenting style, Diana added: "And William now does it - it's great.
"It's nice if other people appreciate it at the other end."
But this isn't the first time we've heard of Diana's charming thank you cards.
Last month, we revealed how a letter Diana once wrote a letter to her bodyguard to thank him for his service during a "magical" family holiday with her two sons.
After recognising that their status must have made his "job enormously difficult", Diana then had her two sons Prince William and Prince Harry sign the note - which was recently sold at auction for £2,950.
