THE DUCHESS of Sussex paid a touching tribute to her late mother-in-law as she wore her jewellery for her first overseas Royal tour with Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle dazzled in Princess Diana's jewel-encrusted butterfly earrings and gold bracelet during her first official engagement in Sydney today.
It's thought the stunning pieces may have been a gift from her husband to mark their baby news - which they announced after touching down in Australia on Monday.
The Princess of Wales first wore the beautiful gold earrings during the royal tour to Canada with Prince Charles in May 1986 - a year and a half after Harry was born.
Meghan also wore a beautiful £1,000 white dress by Karen Gee, which showed off a hint of her bump, causing the Australian designer's website to crash within minutes.
The 37-year-old has previously paid tribute to Diana - on her wedding day in May she wore an aquamarine cocktail ring that used to belong to Harry's mum.
Her engagement ring is also made up of two diamonds from the Princess of Wales' personal collection.
In a joint interview after their engagement, Meghan said: "It's important to know that she's a part of this with us."
Diana left most of her jewellery to her sons after her death, and asked that in time it would be passed onto their wives.
In a letter, she said: "I would like you to allocate all my jewellery to the share to be held by my sons, so that their wives may, in due course, have it or use it."
Harry appears to have honoured his mother's wishes as Meghan stepped out flashing the beautiful pieces for the reception at Admiralty House and at Taronga Zoo.
She paired the jewellery with the Karen Gee "Blessed" dress, which costs £1,000 (1,800 Australian dollars) - described as a "timeless classic" which features a "simple, structured fit designed to contour the body for a sleek silhouette".
Ms Gee, who is based in Sydney, said it was a "wonderful surprise" to see Meghan in one of her designs - although had been aware it could happen after submitting several pieces for consideration.
She said: "I can't describe it as anything other than an honour for the brand to be recognised by someone who really exemplifies our values and the epitome of modern glamour.
"What was so humbling is that there's so many great designers out there to choose from, so it was a thrill for us to see Meghan wearing Karen Gee."
The couple's baby news announcement reportedly took their hosts, Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Lynne Cosgrove, by surprise yesterday.
Sir Cosgrove, who represents Queen Elizabeth II - Australia's head of state, sent staff to hastily buy a toy kangaroo with a joey in its pouch and tiny pair of Ugg boots.
Meghan and Harry beamed with delight as they were handed the gifts, with the Duchess exclaiming: "Our first baby gift!" as she cuddled the Joey.
While her husband Prince Harry was handed a pair of tiny baby Ugg boots, which he called "awesome".
Body language expert Judi James says the dad-to-be appeared to be showing signs of "strain and excitement" as the pair made their first public appearance since the baby announcement.
The main focus of Tuesday's engagement was to meet Invictus Games representatives from the 18 countries competing in the event that starts Saturday.
The sporting event, founded by Harry in 2014, gives sick and injured military personnel and veterans the opportunity to compete in sports such as wheelchair basketball.
Several of the representatives congratulated the couple on their baby news. Meghan replied: "Thank you so much. We are very excited."
