Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry won’t be spending as much time with Kate Middleton and Prince William from now on
The close brothers are said to be considering a 'formal division of their joint royal household' at Kensington Palace
WE could be seeing less of the Fab Four - Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - together in upcoming months.
The close brothers are considering a “formal division of their joint royal household” at Kensington Palace in order to focus on their different responsibilities.
According to , “the pressures of monarchy, marriage and their diverging royal roles are presenting new challenges for dukes of Cambridge and Sussex".
It is claimed that the separation of courts may take place next year after the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan’s first child.
Harry, Meghan and their royal baby are reportedly expected to leave their two-bedroom lodging at Nottingham Cottage to find a new royal residence to live as a family.
A source close to William and Harry said: “The brothers have leant on each other and looked after each other since their mother died.
"But now they have their own families, they no longer rely on each other as before.”
Royal author Sally Bedell Smith told : “The arrival of Meghan has changed the dynamic of the relationship in a fairly significant way.
"It is inevitable and practical because it gives Harry and Meghan some freedom to build up their own collection of interests and charities.
"Meghan has very strong views on what she is interested in and that may be what Harry shares, but not what William and Kate share.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex proved on their 16-day tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji that they are more than capable of handling royal duties as a pair.
During their trip, Meghan made three speeches on women’s issues; a topic she championed long before marrying into the family.
When Prince Charles takes the throne, Prince William will be next in line, so could start taking on slightly different duties to his younger brother in preparation.
Thankfully the popular brothers won’t part ways completely.
, they’re “likely to keep their successful Royal Foundation, under which they organise their charitable endeavours and their groundbreaking mental health campaign, intact".
Sally said: “I think it really is just a shift in priorities and interests. William is a husband and father of three and his focus is primarily on them and Harry will soon be a father.
“Each of them will continue the very strong representative of the Queen in carrying out tasks and assignments that she, and probably their father, wants them to do. They are going to be sharing in this diffusion of activities on behalf of the Queen.”
The princes previously split from Prince Charles’s court at Clarence House in 2009 and created their own base, initially at St James’s Palace.
Despite going their separate ways from their dad, the young princes’ official royal work is funded from Prince Charles’s Duchy of Cornwall.
The amount he spent on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex rose by 40 per cent from 2017 to 2018.
This took the figure from £3.5million to £5million.
Charles's principal private secretary Clive Alderton said the year was one of "celebration, commemoration and change" and included "moments of great joy" for the Royal Family.
He added: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex became engaged, their wedding itself seemed to me a day when not just the sun shone but Britain itself shone - and right round the world.
"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced that they were expecting another child and the Prince of Wales's third grandchild Prince Louis was born in April.
"The Duchess of Cornwall celebrated her 70th birthday and as she has been saying to everyone, the Prince of Wales is about to catch her up in November this year when he celebrates his own 70th birthday."
Kensington Palace was contacted but declined to comment.
