Meghan Markle and Prince Harry divide fans with ‘beautiful’ Christmas card as some say they’ve ‘turned their backs to the public’
MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry have released their first beautiful Christmas card together as a married couple.
The stunning black and white image shows the newlyweds watching the fireworks at their evening wedding reception at Frogmore House in Windsor in May.
The lovebirds have their arms wrapped around each other as they gaze into the distance on their special day, with Meghan showcasing the back of her gorgeous Stella McCartney evening wedding dress.
Kensington Palace posted the card on Instagram with the caption: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to share a new photograph from their Wedding Reception at Frogmore House on 19th May.
“The photograph, which features on Their Royal Highnesses’ Christmas card, was taken by photographer Chris Allerton.”
The card may have racked up hundreds of comments on Instagram from fans praising how lovely the card it but some critical commenters aren’t happy as the couple are “turning their backs to the public”.
One said: “Interesting they have chosen one with their backs to the public. I worry for Harry.”
Another wrote: “Says it all. Turning their backs on people. She on her father and he on his family.”
And one person said on Instagram: “Believe Christmas photo should be more about smiles and joy. I like Cambridge family photo, more uplifting and joyful.”
In the shot, the couple are just silhouettes against the lit-up sky and some people have said Prince Harry looks different.
One person wrote: “That doesn’t even look like Harry from behind.”
But many people were fans of the shot and gushed over the breathtaking image.
A fan commented: “This is fricking beautiful How Harry is holding Meghan’s hand behind his back. Cute as can be.”
Another added: “Next year they’ll have a little one with them in the Xmas card”.
The image was a poignant choice, as Frogmore Cottage is to be the new home of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex next year.
It sits in the grounds of Frogmore House, which played host to the private evening reception on their wedding day.
It is understood the couple want to bring up a family away from the “goldfish bowl” of London and start a life more privately.
However, there has been speculation over a rift between The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Some are putting the move down to their differences, suggesting the two Duchesses don’t get along.
The family cards were released on Friday, along with one from the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall in which the couple are pictured on a bench in their Clarence House garden gazing at each other.
And Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Christmas card, shows the royal brood smiling outside.
The family-of-five can be seen beaming in the autumnal grounds of their country home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
Stealing the show in the shot is Prince George, five, who is pictured wearing jeans for the first time.
Seven-month-old Prince Louis is smiling cheekily in his mum Kate Middleton’s arms as she perches on a tree next to Prince William, Princess Charlotte, three, and Prince George.
The caption said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to share a new photograph of their family.
“The photograph, taken by Matt Porteous, shows The Duke and Duchess with their three children at Anmer Hall, and features on Their Royal Highnesses’ Christmas card this year.”
Matt also took Prince Louis’ informal christening shots.
