Get glamorous Mary Poppins’ high-end look for less on the High Street
Vogue's December cover star Emily Blunt channeled Mary Poppins for a stunning shoot decked out in head to toe Dior, but you don't need to be in designer gear to get the same look
LIKE most superheroes Mary Poppins wears a cape – but hers is effortlessly stylish. And the new movie character’s signature high collars, puffed sleeves and clashing prints are causing a storm on the catwalk, with designers from Erdem to Marc Jacobs using the Edwardian style for winter and spring trends.
Mary Poppins Returns costume designer Sandy Powell updated Mary’s style with brighter colours, geometric prints and bolder fashion choices. The movie’s star, Emily Blunt, made the cover of December’s Vogue in a voluminous red Dior skirt, nipped-in suit jacket and brolly.
Now celebs are stealing Mary’s look, with Keira Knightley winning the royal seal of approval in a prim Chanel twin set, pussy-bow blouse and boater when collecting an OBE. And the high street has followed in Poppins’ ladylike footsteps too.
