Prince Charles told Prince William to ‘break up with Kate Middleton’ when he was 25 as he was ‘too young to get married’ and it was ‘unfair to string her along’
PRINCE Charles urged Prince William to break up with Kate Middleton after his son came to him at age 25 to say he didn't feel ready to get married, a royal author claims.
In the 2016 documentary Kate Middleton: Biography, Christopher Andersen revealed Wills approached his dad for relationship advice in April 2007, reports .
"William went to his father and said, ‘Look, I’m 25, I’m too young to get married. I just don’t want to commit at this point,'" Anderson claims.
At this point he and Kate had been dating for around four years, after meeting in 2001 while both studying at St Andrews University.
Anderson said: "Charles, who was by then very fond of Kate, said, 'It would be unfair to the young lady. You cannot string her along anymore, so you should just break it off.'"
Kate, also 25, then received a phone call at work on April 11, which brought an "unhappy ending" to her Cinderella story, Anderson said.
He added: "She was reeling after William broke off their relationship."
But their split was short-lived, as the couple got back together around two months later in June, and went on to marry in April 2011.
The Duchess of Cambridge, who celebrated her 37th birthday with her children yesterday, was 29-years-old when she married Wills.
