Church offers £1,000 wedding package that includes the ceremony, food, flowers and photos
THE average cost of a wedding is now at an all-time high around £30,000.
But a Cheshire church is hoping to help cash-strapped couples by offering a package for £1,000.
in Hartford’s deal includes the ceremony, a two-tiered wedding cake, digital photographs, invitations, catering and flowers.
They will also include a dress alteration service if the bride buys a second hand frock.
St John's is offering three dates for 2019 on a first come first served basis, but one lucky couple has already bagged a wedding so entrants must be quick.
A notice titled 'A Grand Wedding' on the church's website states: "Would you like to get married, but have put it off because of the cost? We can do your whole day for £1000 - making it a grand wedding!
"At St John’s, we believe that lifelong marriage between a man and a woman is God’s good gift to all, and that no-one should be denied simply because of cost.
"In our Grand Wedding, you have to provide your own clothes, but we’ll do the rest and give you a great day.
"There are no hidden charges - the £1000 includes legal fees."
The package is put together using a team of volunteers. It includes a catered reception at the church centre with a two-course meal for up to 30 guests.

There is also an option to add another 20 guests at a pro rata cost.
Reverend Mike Smith told the : "At St John's, we believe that lifelong marriage between a man and a woman is God's good gift to all and that no-one should be denied simply because of cost."
