Katie Piper warns celebs over ‘anxiety-inducing’ 10-Year Challenge snaps as she shares inspiring pic of acid attack recovery
THE latest trend to sweep Instagram is the #10yearchallenge where people compare what they look like now to a decade ago.
While some celebrities haven’t aged and others look completely different, Katie Piper’s post has a powerful message behind it.
The 35-year-old shared a snap of herself on dressed casually with brunette locks, alongside a photo of herself aged 25.
Wearing a black mask with tubes up her nose, Katie had been attacked with acid only the year before, when she was 24.
The mother-of-two captioned the post: “#10yearchallenge don’t let this challenge create anxiety within you about ageing - it’s an absolute privilege.
“1st pic me age 25 year of 2009 in my mums kitchen.
“2nd Pic is me age 35 last week in my own kitchen 2019!”
Following the attack – which left her blind in one eye – Katie moved back in with her parents as she began her road to recovery.
She was brutally assaulted by Stefan Sylvestre, 30, who was released from prison last year after being jailed in 2009.
Stefan, who is now married, was acting on orders from Katie’s ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch.
Lynch was sentenced to life in prison, and must serve a minimum of 16 years before he is eligible for parole.
Fast forward more than a decade after the aattack, and Katie has managed to forge a successful career in television, is married with two children and has set up the Katie Piper Foundation.
People have praised Katie for sharing such a moving post with her 831k followers, calling her an ‘inspiration’.
The photo has been liked more than 75,000 times and received more than a thousand comments.
