The special event features live music, bubbles and even a small gift for your mum to take away after dining in their Great Hall.

Based just outside Manchester, their indulgent afternoon tea features scones slathered with chocolate cream and salted caramel sauce and other cocoa-laden treats including the shop's award-winning brownies.

The Berkeley’s Prêt-à-Portea has been a stalwart of the high-tea scene for a decade but it's recently had a revamp.

The menu of beautiful fashion-themed biscuits, sponges and sweets changes with the catwalk seasons, but previous menus have included a Jimmy Choo-inspired shoe cake, made with praline cream and hazelnut croquant; and a neon yellow iced Manolo Blahnik gingersnap stiletto.

If you want to treat your mum, yourself AND the kids, The Celtic Manor Resort has to be up there.

While you and mum can have afternoon tea, the kids can go and expel their fidgety energy at the 18-hole crazy golf, "forest jump" high and low ropes, two swimming pools or tutored archery within view of the dining room.
