As well as the usual tea and cakes Jesmond Dene House in Newcastle offers an afternoon tea special on March 31.
The special event features live music, bubbles and even a small gift for your mum to take away after dining in their Great Hall.
It’s served from 2pm until 5.30pm.

If your mum’s one vice is chocolate the award-winning West Didsbury chocolatier Cocoa Cabana’s afternoon tea has got her name on it!
Based just outside Manchester, their indulgent afternoon tea features scones slathered with chocolate cream and salted caramel sauce and other cocoa-laden treats including the shop’s award-winning brownies.
You’re sure to leave on a (sugar) high.

For the modern mama
The Berkeley’s Prêt-à-Portea has been a stalwart of the high-tea scene for a decade but it’s recently had a revamp.
The menu of beautiful fashion-themed biscuits, sponges and sweets changes with the catwalk seasons, but previous menus have included a Jimmy Choo-inspired shoe cake, made with praline cream and hazelnut croquant; and a neon yellow iced Manolo Blahnik gingersnap stiletto.

For the traditionalist
If THAT 1995 scene where Mr Darcy comes out of the lake gets your mum’s heart racing, we suggest you book the deliciously sophisticated afternoon tea at Chatsworth House – where the Pride and Prejudice series with Colin Firth was filmed.
With a tea menu as long as your arm, you’ll sip the finest leaves through Wedgwood’s best crockery and get cakes, scones, sandwiches and fancies all included too.

Mrs McGonagall mums and Harry Potter fans will love the Potion Room afternoon tea at London’s Soho bakery Cutter and Squidge.
As you arrive you get cloaked up, and then take your seat at the school-style desks and await your Potions Master.
They will have you whisking up potions and all manner of concoctions in no time.

For the gin-loving lady
Fancy your afternoon tea *read gin* with a breathtaking view?
Head up to level 25 of The Cube in Birmingham to Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse Bar & Grill.
The reowned chef and his staff are currently serving up a gin afternoon tea – complete with a gin inspired selection of cakes and scones.
Freshly baked gin and lime cupcake and Pink Gin raspberry cheesecake sit proudly on top of the cake stand, while other picnic classics with a modern twist include Gin Jam on orange and juniper scones and gin, chocolate and cranberry ganache.

One for all the family
If you want to treat your mum, yourself AND the kids, The Celtic Manor Resort has to be up there.
