Prince William might miss the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first baby

Uncle William might be in New Zealand when Baby Sussex is born

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry will soon celebrate the arrival of Baby Sussex, but one member of the family who might miss the birth is uncle Prince William.

The Duchess of Sussex, 37, is thought to be due any day now - and with Will visiting New Zealand next week, there's a good chance he could be abroad when Baby Sussex arrives.

Kensington Palace announced that William, 36, will be visiting New Zealand on behalf of the Queen to "honour the victims of the Christchurch mosques terrorist attack".

He will be taking the official visit from April 25 to 26, so could miss the birth of his new niece and nephew if they arrive next Thursday or Friday.

50 people were killed on March 15 when a lone attacker opened fire at two mosques during Friday prayers.

During his trip, William will meet those affected by the attack and pay tribute to the compassion and solidarity that the people of New Zealand have displayed since the tragedy occurred.

At the time, both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a joint statement.

"Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the people who lost their lives in the devastating attack in Christchurch," it read.

"We have all been fortunate to spend time in Christchurch and have felt the warm, open-hearted and generous spirit that is core to its remarkable people.

"No person should ever have to fear attending a sacred place of worship."

Prince William's New Zealand trip could alternatively be an indication that the baby will arrive before he jets off down under.

The Duke of Cambridge is already uncle to Pippa Middleton's son, Arthur Michael William.

Meghan's due date is thought to be late April, but hasn't been confirmed by the palace.

Bookies have slashed odds that he or she could arrive on the Queen's birthday, April 21

Bookies Ladbrokes has dropped the odds to 3/1 that Baby Sussex will arrive some point between Friday and Monday - making it an Easter baby.

Jessica Bridge, a spokeswoman for the company, said: "Royal fans would love a double celebration over the Easter weekend with Her Majesty's birthday on Sunday, and potentially Baby Sussex arriving as well.

"Punters are still convinced the Duke and Duchess will be welcoming a little girl into the world."

If Meghan and Harry's baby arrives on Sunday he or she (and odds are on that it is a girl) will share a birthday with the Queen who will turn 93.
