Meghan Markle is ‘disturbingly self-confident’ and has ‘discomforting parallels’ with Diana, Lady Colin Campbell warns

The royal author said the famous family 'must represent all of the people' and Meghan must know when 'keep her mouth shut'

LADY Colin Campbell claims Meghan Markle is “disturbingly self-confident” and has 'discomforting parallels' with her late friend Princess Diana.

The author, 69, who has published three books on the royals, also warned the Duchess of Sussex, 37, against being a “political activist”.

, she said they were “both bright, ambitious, canny women who have known how to play the game”.

However, she added of the differences: “Meghan is much better educated and more academic. Meghan is almost disturbingly self-confident. We must hope she realises that her vision is not the only vision.”

Lady Colin also said that Diana suffered from “insecurities” and warned Meghan about falling into any of the same traps.

She explained: “We must hope that Meghan has no psychological instability - as Diana had - and won't hit the buffers at any point, as Diana did."

The royal author also advised that Meghan should avoid becoming a “political activist” as the “royals must represent all of the people” and she should know when “keep her mouth shut”.

Lady Colin added: “There are many conservative people, all over the world, many religious people, who do not have these 'woke' and 'right-on' views.”

She was full of praise for certain qualities Meghan possesses, and said that she is “in many ways Harry’s superior”, and citied her intelligence and strong will.

Lady Colin isn’t the only royal expert to warn Meghan about how to act in the royal family.

Princess Diana’s butler Paul Burrell said “Meghan will have to tow the party line if she is to last.”

Speaking to the Sun Online, he said: “She will need to rein it in and stay safe behind closed doors. We don’t want to see Meghan every single day in the newspapers and on TV.

“She may say she doesn’t have to toe the line, but she has a royal title now and you have to give up a lot to be a member of the royal family.

“The lines are getting blurred between celebrity and royal. There is a clear line between the two, and Meghan doesn’t know the difference.

“I think we all have to wait with bated breath and watch the way this one is going to progress.

“It is certainly a fiery, tempestuous comet streaking through the royal family.”
