BABY STEPS

Meghan Markle doesn’t want to pose with Baby Sussex because she is so nervous about the birth, Royal expert claims

Kate Middleton posed for photos soon after the birth of all three of her children

ROYAL experts have claimed Meghan Markle might be shunning the traditional photocall with Baby Sussex because she’s “nervous”.

The first-time mum is due to give birth any day now, but speculation is rife over where – and when – the Duchess of Sussex will have her baby.

: “Everyone of course has an opinion about whether we should be the ones to see the baby first, but at the end of the day, what Meghan does with her baby and her body straight after giving birth is very much her personal decision.

“What we’ve heard from sources is she’s quite nervous, it’s her first baby, the nerves are really quite high at the moment and so for her to be able to actually cut out what makes it so stressful is probably quite a relief for her and Harry.”

Dickie Arbiter, the Queen’s former press secretary, has said the new parents are entitled to do things in their own way.

He told Yahoo: “Given the amount of bad press that Meghan has been having recently, Harry might just say ‘to hell with it'.

It’s thought Meghan is shunning the private Lindo Wing, where Princess Diana and the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth, in favour of Frimley Park Hospital, or even a home birth.

And while mum-of-three Kate posed for photos just hours after giving birth, historian Anna Whitelock told the programme Meghan may be scrapping this in case something goes wrong.

She said: “If the child had been in the special baby care unit or anything, which lots of babies for a short time have to be in, they would all have to be explained because there is a sense that in a day or two days, there will be this photo opportunity.

“It doesn’t create any kind of opportunity for anything that might not be perfect to happen.

“I think in a way it’s remarkable that all of those things have, so far, up until now, all gone ok.

“I’m not surprised at all that Meghan’s like ‘I don’t want that extra pressure.’”

Kensington Palace announced in October the couple were expecting their baby in the spring, with Meghan herself letting slip she’s due at “the end of April, early May”.
