PRAM GATE

‘Ungrateful’ mum slammed for moaning £100 buggy she was gifted by friends is ‘too big and bulky’

However, others have likened the stroller to a 'limousine' and claim it's an 'inappropriate' gift

WHEN it comes to picking out the perfect present for your pregnant pal, you'd think a luxury pram would be a pretty safe bet.

However, one mum-to-be has been branded "ungrateful" online for moaning about the £100 buggy her friends bought her for her birthday - and claims it's "too big and bulky".

Sharing her dilemma on , the anonymous woman admitted she was "disappointed" with the gift - but was aware that her complaints made her "look like an ungrateful cow."

Using the pseudonym "PramGate", the woman explained: "I have a young toddler and I'm also about to give birth and I was very kindly bought a double stroller as a recent birthday gift.

"I didn't ask for it. It was suggested as they knew I needed one and I graciously accepted because my son isn't a reliable walker yet and I was going to need one regardless."

As the friends chose the pram themselves, the woman added: "In terms of size, structure and practicality - it just doesn't work for me."

As well as being "extremely heavy" and "hard to turn", the mum also moaned that she doesn't "have ample space for it - even when its folded down."

Aware that her mates had splashed £100 on the tandem stroller, the mum concluded: "I feel terribly guilty for not being happy with it.

"It looked relatively lightweight online, at least a lot more so than in person.

"I also don't think it's the most practical for a newborn."

Unsurprisingly, some Mumsnet users were quick to label the woman "ungrateful" for wanting to return the unwanted gift - but others sympathised with her dilemma.

One user wrote: "I think you're being a bit precious if I'm honest. It is suitable for a newborn because it lays down flat.

"You need practice getting it open and closed, if you can't then return it on that basis with a different option."

Commenting on the size of the double stroller, another exclaimed: "Jesus, it's a limousine!"

"Time to get comfortable with uncomfortable conversations," they advised. "Be straight with the giver that their gift isn't at all practical."

Jumping to the "ungrateful" mum's defence, a third mused: "I don't know why anyone would think it appropriate to buy something like this without input from the person they are buying it for."
