DIAMOND GEEZER

Mum-to-be stunned after her baby son shows up in the shape of a diamond ring at her five-week scan

Kerry Webb, 24, from Norwich, believes her unborn son has 'given a sign' that her pregnancy will run smoothly after she suffered a miscarriage in 2017

A MUM-TO-BE has been left stunned after her baby son showed up in the shape of a diamond ring during her five-week scan.

After she tragically miscarried her third baby two years ago, Kerry Webb, 24, believes her unborn son has "given a sign" that the pregnancy will run smoothly.

Kerry's five week internal scan shows a thick circular outline of the yolk sac which resembles an engagement ring band.

What's more, Kerry's baby son appears in a smaller circle on the top of the sac which created an incredible resemblance to a diamond ring.

At first, the mum-of-two, from Norwich, was afraid to look at the scan out of fear something might be wrong with the baby.

She said: "It took me a while as I was so nervous and worried to even look at the screen after a losing a baby before."

However, the mum-of-two summoned the courage to take a look after her own mother - who was attending the scan with her - referred to Kerry's unborn son as her "diamond baby."

Kerry added: "When I finally looked at the scan properly, I thought to myself, 'is that really my baby?'

"I've never seen anything like it. I was amazed, I was so confused. It was like seeing a diamond ring with a heartbeat."

Following her miscarriage in 2017, Kerry said: "It made me feel whole again seeing the baby on the screen, even if it did look like a ring.

"After losing a baby, I always felt like something was missing."

Although most mothers in the UK have their first ultrasound appointment between 10 and 14 weeks into their pregnancy, Kerry and her fiance Ben Thracton, 24, decided to have an internal scan at five weeks to make sure everything was okay.

She added: "We had the early scan because we lost our third baby in 2017, so this baby is our rainbow."

Unsurprisingly, the couple's families have been equally delighted by photos of the five-week scan.

"My nanny was giggling because it was new and in all her years she had never seen a baby scan like it," Kerry continued.

However, the couple have no plans to make reference to the extraordinary scan with their son's name.

The mum said: "We were going to do something with his name to recognise his scan but we knew we would always have the photo to show him when he's older and we can tell him the story from that."

Now 21-weeks pregnant, Kerry also claims that her son gave her a cheeky thumbs up at her most recent scan last week.

Counting down the days until her son is born, Kerry said: "I can't wait to meet him.

"We have been so excited to have another [baby] after losing one before, but it was a massive shock too to be pregnant again initially.

"We found out I was pregnant when I was only one or two weeks in, so it feels like [we've been waiting] a lifetime already.

"Now I can't wait until he is here and for his big brother and sister to meet him too."

After sharing the photos of her "diamond ring" baby, Kerry added: "It's just amazing to find out that people are so amazed by my scan.

"I can't wait for him to grow up and tell him how people were amazed by his baby scan."
