HERE COMES THE BRIBE

Woman reveals her fiance’s parents gave her £7k bribe to break up with him… and she took it

The anonymous woman revealed she took the money in a tell-all post to Reddit

SEVEN thousand pounds is a lot of money - but for most of us, it wouldn't be enough of a bribe to leave our other half standing alone at the alter.

But one woman revealed online that when her fiance's parents offered her £7,700 to break up with him, she didn't have any second thoughts about making the choice.

The anonymous woman revealed in a tell-all post to that her husband-to-be's parents came to her and offered the lump sum of money on the condition she called things off with their son.

Explaining that she met her partner in college and that they had dated for several years before getting engaged, the woman knew his wealthy mum and dad didn't agree with their relationship.

However, she says it 'never bothered her' as the most important thing for the couple was that 'they were in love' and 'thought they could get through it'.

But soon after saying yes, the bride-to-be noticed that he was changing, with his personality becoming increasingly like his overbearing parents.

"He became extremely controlling," she wrote. "He wanted to know where I was almost every minute of the day - and at one point he said after we were married he'd make a schedule to know where I was.

"Along with this, I found out he was a secret alcoholic who can become very belligerent when drunk - and those red flags were enough to have me thinking about stepping back for a while.

"The real tipping point was when he told me that he feels like he has to 'settle' for me and that he could probably do better."

So when her potential mother-in-law called and offered her the cash to break up with her son, the woman thought it too good an opportunity to let pass by.

"We made an agreement to never tell him or anyone else about our 'exchange'," she added "And so that night I went home, packed my bag and broke up with him.

"I moved out that week and I haven't seen him since. He's called me multiple times but I've ignored them - despite mutual friends saying he's a wreck and that he 'still loves me'.

"His parents contacted me once since to thank me, and wishing me good luck in life.

"I was planning on breaking up with him anyway - but the money did help. Was I right to take it? His family mistreated me so I just saw it as a way of repaying me."

Hundreds of people were quick to read the post and took to the comment section to tell the woman she did the right thing.

One person said: "You didn't lose out on the love of your life and you were going to leave him anyway. Might as well profit from it a bit."

And another agreed: "Think of it as an a**hole tax - the closest thing to an apology you'll get from them."

While a third remarked: "I wouldn't leave my partner for ten million, so it's not like you were going to be in it for the long haul. If he was for you, no amount of money would separate you two."
