Meghan Markle’s ‘new age’ baby plans have cost more than £100k
While the couple are always on-trend, it's thought that the cost of the green friendly lifestyle has totted up to more than £100,000
WHILE Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may never get to rule the country, with their holistic medical approach and environmentally conscious attitude, they're undoubtedly the king and queen of the New Age.
Practising meditation in the run up to the royal birth and ensuring their home is up to date with feng shui, the hippy royals are said to only eat organic food and even used vegan paint in the newly refurbished nursery of Frogmore cottage.
Priding themselves on caring for the environment, relying on renewable green energy at home, the couple have even shared images of endangered animals on their newly formed Instagram page.
The Duchess is thought to be having Baby Sussex at home, too, shunning royal tradition - it's just one of the reasons her much anticipated baby is one of the most alternative royals in history.
While the couple are always on-trend, it's thought that the cost of the green friendly lifestyle has totted up to more than £100,000 since the start of Meghan's pregnancy.
How does it all add up? Here we look at how the royals sustainable lifestyle has come with a hefty bill.
The Eco-stay - £33,000
The couple enjoyed a getaway at Heckfield Place, a luxury spa in Hampshire, as part of their fashionable 'baby-moon' before the royal birth.
With walnut floors and floor mats sourced from the River Ouse, the hotel serves food from a home farm, orchard and kitchen gardens right to your room, which cost up to £10,000 a night.
The five-star stay also houses a wellness spa with natural treatments and holistic wellness practices using skincare products that can cost £130 for a small pot.
And with Prince Harry and Meghan staying a total of three nights, alongside their three protection officers who needed their own rooms, there's no surprise at the price.
The Nursery - £50,100
Preparing for the royal birth, the couple installed a green energy unit at Frogmore Cottage as part of their pre-baby renovations to provide them with heat, electricity and water.
And that's just the start, for the taxpayer funded 10-bedroom property was also updated with a 'designer' nursery for the arrival.
Using vegan paint made with rosemary oils and eucalyptus from German firm Auro, which comes in at £40 a pot.
It's also thought that Meghan enlisted the help of interior designer Vicky Charles, who designed The Ned in London and Soho Farmhouse, to decorate the room in an eco-friendly way.
The Wardrobe - £9,300
The Duchess is well known for preferring sustainable fashion brands - often wearing the items while visiting different countries on tour with her husband.
In Australia, she chose a striped dress by label Reformation, thought to cost around £250, and in New Zealand, a £450 white tuxedo dress by Maggie Marilyn, who uses biodegradable packaging.
While she was often spotted in heels, Meghan sported some vegan trainers by Veja while in Sydney, costing £80, and recycled plastic flats by Rothy's at £70.
She has also been seen carrying a £1,500 Gabriela Hearst bag, using plastic alternatives, and sporting a £995 blazer from sustainable brand Theory.
Meghan even chose her £3,500 evening wedding gown to be made by eco-minded designer Stella McCartney, as well as a £1,200 cape dress and a £1,000 coat.
The Jewellery - £1,200
The New Age theme even runs its way into the royal couple's bling - with the Duchess often choosing to wear a £240 gold bracelet from Bar Jewellery, using recycled materials.
And she's also chosen to sport a £319 arrow stud by Zofia Day, a brand which prides itself as 'luxury with a conscience'.
In a nod to Prince Charles, the mum-to-be also has items from the Afghan charity Turquoise Mountain that her father-in-law helped to start - including £50 earrings and many bangles which can cost up to £360 each.
Acupuncture and Wellness - £8,700
To aid her in her pregnancy, Meghan has regularly visited a herbal wellness centre for acupuncture, thought to be with celebrity acupuncturist Ross Barr.
A source told Vanity Fair: "It boosts blood flow to the uterus - she plans to use it right up to her due date."
The practice can cost an eye-watering £6,200 for a year of 45-minute sessions - and with Harry thought to be joining in too, who knows how much of a bill the pair have wracked up.
Harry and Meghan have also visited Ilapothecary in Notting Hill, London, for numerology - linking numbers to events - and costing £2520 for a 12 week programme.
The Birth Plan - £1,300
Meghan is thought to be using a hypnobirthing technique, a form of hypnotherapy, during her upcoming labour.
The method is thought to help women have a less painful labour through mindfulness, as well as keeping the baby relaxed.
While it's not known how much it costs, Meghan has chosen to hire a doula - a childbirth 'companion' from outside the Royal household - to see her through the birth.
One of these helping hands can cost upwards of £1,300 for 10 one-hour sessions.
