Meghan Markle tipped by bookies to give Baby Sussex an unusual Italian name that Diana loved
FROM Elizabeth to Diana, Arthur and Albert, speculation over Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's chosen baby name has been circulating for months.
Now, bookies think Italian moniker, Allegra, could be in the running after it's been revealed it was one of Princess Diana's favourite names.
While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not revealed whether they're having a boy or a girl, latest bets claim Grace, Diana, Arthur and Elizabeth are punters' most popular choices.
Grace and Diana currently have odds of 6/1, followed by Arthur and Elizabeth at 8/1.
But as royal fans continue to speculate over the gender and name, "Allegra" has entered the running this week, with bookies slashing odds from 100/1 to just 20/1.
The Italian name means "joyful and lively" and is said to be the name Diana wanted if she had had a baby girl.
According to the , Diana had told a friend if she had a daughter, she wanted to call her Allegra after her pal, Lady Annabel Goldsmith, had mentioned the name.
"It's probably the most bizarre eleventh hour move we could've seen, but the money is coming in thick and fast for Allegra," said Alex Apati of Ladbrokes.
"We wouldn't be surprised to see the name right up there with the frontrunners by the time the birth gets announced."
Yesterday, royal fans were convinced that Buckingham Palace had revealed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby name.
According to the , it's been reported that a page on Buckingham Palace's website has been "reserved" for "Prince Arthur", "Prince James" and "Prince Alexander".
When visitors attempt to access pages with URLs of www.royal.uk/prince-arthur, www.royal.uk/prince-james and www.royal.uk/prince-alexander, they are redirected to Buckinham Palace's homepage.
But when visitors try to access pages for other rumoured names, they are redirected to a "page not found".
37-year-old Meghan is expected to give birth any day now, with one royal expert claiming she was due last week.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain last Friday, ITV's royal editor Chris Ship said the birth was "imminent".
