MARK OF RESPECT

Meghan Markle has been warned over clashing with senior royals as Palace keeps a ‘close eye on her’, royal biographer claims

There's a clear 'chain of command' which must be respected, royal sources say

MEGHAN Markle is said to have been warned by palace officials to respect the ‘chain of command’ in the royal family.

A royal biographer has claimed a close eye will be kept on Prince Harry and Meghan as they settle in to their new lives as parents.

Angela Levin has claimed officials are trying to manage the couple more effectively, in particular Meghan, who has been seen as ripping up the royal rulebook.

It's thought changes are being made behind the scenes to bring The Duke and Duchess of Sussex in line with the other members of the family, firmly cementing their place in the royal pecking order.

Angela told the : “The intention is to ensure what they do is co-ordinated with the rest of the household so you don't get an Independent State of Frogmore.

“The Royal Family is a very hierarchical organisation. It's the Queen, Prince Charles, the Cambridges, the Sussexes - in that order.

“As the fourth household you have to respect that chain of command.”

It’s been noticed that some appearances by Meghan and Harry have clashed with those of other, more senior, royals including Prince Charles, which is a big no-no.

Steps have been taken to ensure this won’t happen again, with the decision to move the Sussexes' office from Kensington to Buckingham Palace less about a division between Prince Harry and his brother, and more about having tighter control over the Sussex’s, it's been claimed.

Angela added this decision was made before the wedding, fuelled by the torrent of statements Kensington Palace released about Meghan’s father, in stark contrast to how the royals normally handle these situations.

It's thought the Sussex's diary will be placed under much more scrutiny, with the couple’s new communications director, Sara Latham, answering directly to the Queen’s communication secretary, Donal McCabe.

Meghan has lost a number of staff members in recent months, which hasn't gone unnoticed.

The former actress is said to be headstrong and fiercely determined to do things her own way - at odds with how the palace is typically run.

The 37-year-old has been making headlines all over the world, with the rocky relationship with her family and star-studded £350,000 baby shower all seen as clashing with the palace’s quiet and reserved position.

Making comparisons with Princess Diana, another royal source said: “The life of the Duchess of Sussex could be made very difficult and awkward if she doesn't conform. Harry will have recognised this.”

The new parents, who welcomed their baby son Archie just over a week ago, have set the tone by doing things their own way regarding the birth announcement and photocall.

The couple waited two days before unveiling him to the world, but there was confusion over when he was born.

Buckingham Palace issued a statement at 1.49pm claiming Meghan had gone into labour, but then 50 minutes later the Sussex’s Instagram account announced she had given birth to a boy – who had been born at 5:26am.

The mismatch between the timings and announcements from the two different camps has fuelled speculation the Sussexes aren’t towing the line as they should.

Angela warned that the ‘palace machine is a force to be reckoned with’.
