Prince George and Princess Charlotte snuck back into Chelsea Flower Show for a secret 7am visit to ‘help water Kate Middleton’s garden’
A royal source said Kate Middleton brought her excited three children to visit the Back to Nature garden at 7.15am today
KATE Middleton’s beautiful garden at Chelsea Flower Show delighted Prince George and Princess Charlotte so much they snuck back in for a secret visit today.
A royal source told Fabulous Digital the duchess arrived at 7.15am with her three children as the young royals had “wanted to get up early to water the garden”.
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show officially opens at 8am, so George and Charlotte will have had time to play in Kate’s Back to Nature garden in peace before guests arrived.
The popular flower show launched this week and the Duchess of Cambridge, 37, has been back for a number of visits – including with Prince William and the Queen.
Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, four, and one-year-old Prince Louis were previously photographed excitedly exploring the garden with their parents.
Sweet snaps showed the young Cambridge kids scrambling over rocks and grinning on a swing as they made the most of the duchess' garden.
The family-friendly British garden also has a treehouse, an area to toast marshmallows over an open fire and a spot to pick wild strawberries.
The young kids are also said to have played a key part in the creation of Kate’s garden, which she co-designed with architects Andree Davies and Adam White and the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
Kensington Palace said that over the past months Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have “helped The Duchess gather moss, leaves and twigs to help decorate” the garden.
They added: “Hazel sticks collected by the family were also used to make the garden’s den.”
Kate has previously said she has "fond memories" of being outdoors as a child and is passing that passion on to her children.
The Duchess told the BBC in an interview with Monty Don: “I really feel that nature and being interactive outdoors has huge benefits on our physical and mental wellbeing, particularly for young children.
“I really hope that this woodland that we have created really inspires families, kids and communities to get outside, enjoy nature and the outdoors, and spend quality time together.”
The garden is at the forefront of Kate’s lifelong work on early child development and her mission to support efforts that give every child the best possible start in life.
Kate's involvement with the 2019 RHS garden at the Chelsea Flower Show was first revealed earlier in the year.
Her garden's centrepiece is a high-platform tree house atop a chestnut trunk, clad in stag horn oak, hazel and larch cladding that draws inspiration from a bird or animal nest.
Interaction with the natural environment will be encouraged through the garden's "multi-sensory" green and blue plant scheme.
Kate remembered the late Diana, Princess of Wales by including forget-me-nots, her favourite flowers.
Fabulous Digital contacted Kensington Palace but they declined to comment.
