Bridezilla demands her bridesmaids pay £2,270 for the ‘honour’ of being in her wedding
A BRIDE tried to charge her bridesmaids thousands of pounds to be in her wedding as she demanded that she was ‘the only one who mattered’.
Posting on , a wedding guest described how a bridezilla tried to charge her friends to be part of her big day, but ended up losing childhood pals.
The costs spiralled as the bride-to-be demanded bridesmaids pay for their own outfits, organised a destination hen do complete with limo rides, as well as asking for £11,918 towards her honeymoon.
The guest said the bride has “always been the one to be the centre of attention, constantly taking selfies”, even before she got engaged.
Revealing how the expenses mounted up, the guest wrote: “First of all, she had an engagement party to kick-off what is to be 10 months of constant celebrations leading up to the big day.
“This party was complete with personalized wine bottles for each of her selected MOH and bridesmaids.
“This was her way of choosing/announcing her attendants! You had to feel bad for the girls who were hurt they weren't selected for the honor.”
She said it was it was a “blessing in disguise” for the girls who weren’t chosen to be in the bridal party, although her “best friend for over 20 years” made the cut.
The bride then demanded all the bridesmaids foot the bill for their entire outfit.
The guest continued: “All of her attendants were required to go dress shopping with her, then shoe shopping, then accessories shopping.
“Once she was able to find the perfect ensemble for her day, they now were required to go shopping for their dresses and shoes and accessories.
“They were also required to have professional hair and make-up done.”
The guest revealed the cost breakdown for "the honour of being in her wedding" ended up being £2,262 ($2,500), as she charged £238 for shoes and accessories, £317 for dresses, and nearly £200 for their hair and make-up.
Not happy with just an engagement party, she then threw a destination hen do.
That saw her party billed £80 for a limo, £556 for food and the accommodation, as well as airfare of £318.
Cost breakdown to be in the wedding
- Attendant dresses £317.76 ($400)
- Shoes £119.16 ($150)
- Accessories £119.16 ($150)
- Professional hair and makeup £198.60 ($250)
- Napa Valley house rental (per person for the week) £556.09 ($700)
- Airfare round-trip £317.76 ($400)
- Food/drinks for the week £556.09 ($700)
- Limo rentals to go wine tasting (per person) £79.44 ($100)
- And one life-long friendship
The guest added: “For her bachelorette party, she planned a week-long event that consisted of renting a luxurious house in Napa Valley, complete with limo rentals to go wine tasting for three days.
“It's at this point that her long-time best friend pipes up and starts to complain about how much this is costing. (She's already out $700 just on the outfit).
“Bridezilla tells her point-blank, ‘This is MY DAY and I'm the ONLY one that matters!’
"Fast-forward a few hours and Bridezilla kicks her out of the wedding (and the Napa trip obviously) and says she never wants to see her again.
“Another bridesmaid decided she'd had enough too and bailed out on the Napa trip.”
And since Bridezilla and groom were in their mid-30s, they didn't want a gift registry but instead demanded £11,918 ($15,000) in cash for their honeymoon – but only received £1,052 ($1,325).
The post has racked up dozens of comments, with people branding the bride a "brat".
One person said: "Because it's HER day and she's the ONLY one who matters. I don't know how these people keep friends.”
Someone else wrote: "You’re asking people to do you the honor of standing by your side as you make an enormous leap of faith, not to spend a bunch of money to make you look and feel good.”
A third added: "What a spoiled, entitled little f*****g brat.”
