THE FINAL season of hit legal drama Suits is just around the corner – and Meghan Markle has a starring role in the new trailer.
Despite the last episode featuring the Duchess of Sussex, 37, airing last year, her character’s memory is alive and well in the teaser for the ninth season.
Before she quit the show in its seventh season, Meghan played the character of paralegal-turned-lawyer Rachel Zane.
In the new one-minute teaser trailer, clips from all previous seasons have been merged together, and many feature Meghan’s best moments.
When she left the programme, Rachel had just tied the knot with Patrick J. Adams' character Mike Ross in the finale.
However, the nostalgic trailer takes fans right back to the first season of the show, including when Mike begged the character Harvey Specter, played by Gabriel Macht, to hire him.
Other clips include when Mike meets his future wife Rachel, played by Meghan, and the moment she dramatically slaps him before their first sex scene.
The trailer also includes the season four finale when Mike proposes to a tearful Rachel, and a scene from their wedding, which aired in April 2018 just weeks before Meghan’s real-life wedding with Prince Harry.
The characters of Mike and Rachel left the law firm at the end of the seventh season, and moved to Seattle to enjoy their happy ending.
Show creator and showrunner Aaron Korsh said of the wedding scene: “I think we had to do this. It's something that we owed and had to do.
“Obviously, I'm so happy for Meghan in her personal life and that it landed sort of similarly. It just happens.”
Unfortunately for diehard Suits fans, this season, premiering on July 17, will be the last one for the show.
Television executive Chris McCumber released a statement saying: "Suits has played an instrumental role in our network’s DNA for nearly a decade.
“I and everyone at USA Network sincerely thank Aaron Korsh, our partners at UCP and the entire Suits family for their tremendous creativity, devotion and support over a truly amazing run.”
The character of Mike will return as a guest star in the final 10-episode season, but new mum Meghan will not make a comeback.
Aaron said: “Not currently pursuing asking Meghan to leave her position with the royal family and join us.
"We love her, we wish her well but I don’t think that’s happening."
Meghan is currently settling into life as a new mum after giving birth to Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on May 6.
She was last seen at the Queen’s official birthday, Trooping the Colour, earlier this month.
