ROYAL RIFT

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry moved away from Kate and William to ‘maximise their potential’, expert claims

EARLIER this year, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry moved out of their home in Kensington Palace and into the newly-refurbished Frogmore Cottage within the grounds of the Windsor Castle estate.

But while royal watchers argued that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were preparing for baby Archie's imminent arrival, one expert has now claimed that their move was fuelled by their desire to "maximise their potential" away from Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Acknowledging rumours of a rift between the Cambridge and Sussex households, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: "Anything Meghan and Harry do that is separate to Kate and William is going to cause a lot of gossip."

Although Richard admitted that "it's impossible to know" the reason behind Meghan and Harry's move to Frogmore Cottage, he added: "It does make sense to part ways from them as it is a chance for them to pursue their own projects.

"They have more influence than Kate and William and so the whole point is to maximise their potential and show they both have different personalities."

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the Royal Foundation - the charity set up by Prince William and Prince Harry - would be separated as the Sussex and Cambridge households focus on their own charitable endeavours.

A statement said: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are incredibly proud of what they have achieved together through The Royal Foundation.

"They are especially proud to have established a charity that has had, and will continue to have, significant long-lasting impact, changing lives for the better."

In April, it was reported that "protective" Prince William was worried about how quickly his brother's relationship with the former Suits actress had moved.

Royal author Katie Nicholl claims that the Duke of Cambridge's "well-meaning, brotherly advice went down quite badly with Harry, who felt William wasn't being as supportive as he might have been."

Last year, The Sun exclusively revealed that that Meghan Markle "left Kate Middleton in tears" over her strict demands for Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress.
