Thrifty couple create incredible wedding cake for just £40 using budget supermarket tray-bakes from Costco
A THRIFTY couple created an incredible wedding cake for just £40 - using budget supermarket tray-bakes.
Jessica Hoyle-King's brother and his bride served the cut-price treat at their nuptials - complete with pristine icing and a display of pink roses.
Despite its impressive appearance, the newlyweds managed to save hundreds by constructing it out of shop-bought cakes.
Jessica, of Texas, showed off the impressible four-tiered creation - where users were amazed that it wasn't handmade.
She revealed that she helped the couple slice, build and decorate the stunning cake using sweets from cut-price warehouse store Costco.
Jessica said she came up with the idea after scrapping an initial plan to bake and freeze her own cupcakes for the wedding.
COST JUST £40
They bought two £14 cakes that they cut and stacked before adding decorative frosting and flowers worth just £8.
She : "Y’all this DIY cake! It is no secret my bother is frugal...but this wedding took frugality to a whole new level.
"They bought two @costco cakes, cut them, stacked them, re-iced with buttercream icing, and covered with $10 (£7.89) @traderjoes flowers.
"Boom a $50 (£39.43) DIY Cake!
"Displayed on the stand I built using stuff from@hobbylobby ...beautiful on a budget!"
