Four in five men ‘would rather their wife cheat with lesbian lover in hope of a threesome’
FOUR in five straight men would prefer their wives or girlfriends to have lesbian lovers if they cheat, research reveals.
Experts suggest same-sex affairs are easier to bear for fellas when it comes to jealousy.
And blokes may even think it boosts their chances of having a threesome.
Men also find lesbian affairs less threatening because it will not result in them bringing up another man’s child.
But only half of women prefer the idea of a male partner having a gay affair.
Researcher Dr Menelaos Apostolou says: “Men were considerably more likely than women to prefer their partners to cheat with an individual of the same sex.
“Men who have female partners who are attracted to other women are likely to enjoy access to additional women.”
In the journal Evolutionary Psychology, the team points out that therefore “increases his reproductive success”.

Scientists had predicted more women would rather their men had a gay affair so they could not get the lover pregnant.
But others point out homosexual liaisons detract from a man’s perceived masculinity.
The study by the University of Nicosia in Cyprus looked at the attitude of more than 1,200 British and Chinese to cheating.
