Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new charity name ‘Sussex Royal’ compared to Jersey Royal potato
HARRY and Meghan may have got a bit chippy with the name of their new charity — “Sussex Royal”.
Insiders are said to be shocked at the Sussexes’ name choice, which has been likened to the Jersey Royal potato.
One royal source said: “The new name is all about Harry and Meghan building their brand and doing it their way.
“But the name is a little surprising as we were expecting something a bit more traditional.”
Meghan, 37, and Harry, 34, recently separated from Kate and William’s Royal Foundation. They have now headhunted its director Natalie Campbell.
The source added: “Natalie is great and was already leading on much of the Sussexes’ work so it was a natural progression.
“It’s part of the transition and how the Royal Foundation is helping the Sussexes set up their own thing.”
PR guru Sara Latham is another director of the charity, which was registered with Companies House on July 1. Its full name is Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
