Bridezilla blasted after issuing bridesmaids with strict contract stating they can’t ‘change hair or get pregnant’
A BRIDE-TO-BE has been slammed for asking her wedding party to sign "bridesmaid contracts" ahead of her big day.
The woman's strict demands forbid her friends from getting pregnant, changing their hair or drinking more than 10 units of alcohol during the reception.
On Facebook - where two potential contracts were posted - the bride explained: "I've read a lot of horror stories about brides having issues with their bridal party and I just want my planning and wedding day to go smoothly."
She stated that the contracts will be "legitimised by a notary" to avoid "pain and suffering" at her wedding.
She then added that each bridesmaid will have to spend a minimum of $400 at her hen party and a further $200 on a wedding gift.
Other rules include not bringing an inappropriate date, keeping hair and make-up fresh at all times and not gaining more than 7lbs before the nuptials.
Despite her bridezilla requests, one contract ends with a section asking the bridesmaids to tell the bride if any of these points make them feel "uncomfortable".
It reads: "You will (most importantly) let me know if you become uncomfortable with anything, at any time, regarding any aspect of this whole deal.
"If you feel I am asking for too much, if you feel neglected by not being asked to do enough, if expenses seem to be prohibitive - anything at all.
"The absolute last thing I want is for you to feel put upon or resentful.
"All I truly want is your friendship and support."
The bridezilla's demands
- I will not gain more than 7lbs between now and the wedding
- I will not change my hair dramatically in colour, length or style without prior consultation with the bride
- I will take extra care of my hair, skin and nails in the run-up to the wedding
- I will attend all pre-wedding events including bridal shower, hen night, dress fittings and make-up appointments
- I will agree to wear a dress of the bride's choosing, regardless of my own opinions about style or colour
- I will not wear any extra accessories, items of clothing or jewellery at the wedding unless pre-approved by the bride
- I will not intentionally fall pregnant before the wedding
- I will do my best to support the bride in any eventuality
- I will not consume more than 10 units of alcohol during the reception
- I will not bring an inappropriate date to the wedding or reception
- I will not make advances towards any inappropriate male guests attending the reception
- I will not remove any item of my bridesmaid outfit during the reception
- I will keep my hair and make-up fresh at all times
- I will be happy and positive at all times during the wedding and reception
- I will not attempt to out-do the bride in any way
However, this clause hasn't stopped Facebook users from urging the woman's bridesmaids to "run away fast".
One person wrote: "What 'friends' do you have if you have to outline an entire contract? That seems absolutely absurd. Most of this can be taken care of in person and with planning ahead."
Another commented: "These sound like those 'contracts' I used to make with my friends when I was like 5, otherwise 'you're not my friend anymore'."
One joke read: "I want all her bridesmaids to turn up pregnant now."
Some thought the contracts were incredibly insensitive, with one woman commenting: "For someone who's been trying to get pregnant for three years, this bride can suck it!"
Another added: "As someone who has literally just gone through a psycho fest with a bridezilla, this makes me see red."
