BEING HOUNDED

Mum demands pal changes her dog’s name – because she wants to use it for her daughter

FROM celebrities to old school friends, it's almost impossible to come up with a baby name that doesn't remind you of anyone at all.

So one woman was shocked when a mum-to-be sent her a text asking her to change her DOG'S name - because she wants to use it for her daughter.

The messages - between dog owner Jennay Smith, 27, and a pregnant woman she'd met at a christening - were posted on yesterday.

The conversation began in a friendly manner, with the mum-to-be, from Queensland, Australia, writing: "I'm pregnant again and that's why I'm messaging you!"

Jennay congratulated her, before asking why she'd got in touch - and that's where things got weird.

The pregnant woman responded: "We want to name her Tillie and it's come to my attention you have a dog named Tilly. I'd appreciate you changing the dog's name."

Bemused, Jennay replied: "Hey mate, I don't think it's necessary to change my Tilly's name.

"I don't think you'll ever see her and I don't think anyone will notice they've got the same name anyway."

But unfortunately, the mum-to-be wasn't prepared to leave it at that.

She launched into a huge rant, raging: "You don't have children, you'll never understand how a mother can love and just want the best for this perfect little person.

"I'm honestly shocked you're being so heartless and unreasonable. This is going to impact her life and potentially ruin her confidence.

"Can you even imagine growing up having the same name as a mutt?"

She continued: "You have callously put me in a terrible position.

"You are a piece of work and don't deserve your good family. You are ruining a baby's life."

At this point, Jennay tried to end the chat.

She texted: "I'm not going to change Tilly's name mate. Have a good one and congrats again hey."

But the mum-to-be wasn't done, hitting out: "No, f*** you. You're a disgrace. Please reconsider."

Unsurprisingly, the bizarre exchange has shocked Twitter users.

One wrote: "I'd block this woman and move on with my life.

"You just can't understand how some people think the things they think and you never get back those wasted minutes of your life."

Others said: "It sounds like the 'mother to be' shouldn't be let anywhere near any child. Ever," and: "Just when you think you've seen it all."

Some couldn't help making jokes about how Jennay should proceed, with one teasing: "Get another dog. Give it her name, then ask that she change her name."

Another suggested: "Wait for the kid to be born, find out the new name and buy a second dog."
