Bride bans her niece from wearing ‘slutty’ white prom dress to her wedding as it looks like a ‘grandmother’s table cloth’
SOMETIMES only family will tell you the real truth, as one woman found out when her aunt banned her from wearing a "hideous" old prom dress to her wedding.
The niece took to Facebook to vent her fury at the bride's decision, only to be told by fellow users that the midriff-baring off-white frock resembles a "grandmother's table cloth".
Sharing her annoyance in a post, she wrote: "Turns out my aunt doesn't want me to end up wearing my prom dress from two years ago to her wedding which is on September 21 this year.
"And she never bothered telling me that until today all because I showed her a picture of it.
"So now I'm very annoyed and need recommendations as to where I should purchase/ rent a dress."
However, instead of giving her practical suggestions for a replacement frock, users couldn't help but criticise her original outfit choice.
One person commented: "I mean it's ugly, but the issue is that it's white (or maybe ivory tbh, I can't tell from the pic."
Another wrote: "Firstly, it's hideous. The skirt looks like one of my grandmother's table cloths.
"Secondly, it's too bridal looking.
"Lastly, I personally don't think having your stomach showing is particularly appropriate for a wedding."
Wedding guest dress code etiquette...
- Don't wear white
- Don't wear anything too revealing
- Don't wear anything too casual
- Don't wear excessive sequins
- Do wear solid colours
- Do wear simple patterns
A third shared: "Why would she even think it's a good idea to wear something like this to a wedding???"
And a fourth added: "The skirt looks like a tablecloth."
Many shared their shock that the woman had worn it happily to her prom.
One person revealed: "Ugh what slutty prom dress choice like what."
Another added: "Yeah, I'd say no to that too. It's horrid looking, even for a prom dress."
A third noted: "A bed skirt and a halter. Shouldn't be worn anywhere. family is doing her a favour."
