KATE Middleton may have been praised for roaring with laughter as Princess Charlotte stuck her tongue out yesterday, but grandma Carole wasn’t as impressed.

According to a body language expert, Carole Middleton gave off behaviour at the King’s Cup regatta in Cowes, Isle of Wight, that showed she wanted to “nip the naughtiness in the bud.”

Judi James told Fabulous Digital: “Tongue-poking in children is a learned or copied gesture that they tend to mimic from other small children, although adults will often use it in play rituals with them too.

“It’s known to be cheeky and a little bit naughty but once a parent has laughed in the way Kate does here the child will learn that it amuses adults and will probably continue to do it.

“It allows the child to be a little bit shocking but also funny at the same time and that in turn can make them feel a bit more grown-up.

“Kate’s reaction is hilarious here and probably totally appropriate for the moment, although Grandma Carole looks as though she might be thinking of nipping this playful naughtiness in the bud.”

Judi joked that tongue-poking runs in the royal family, and it’s not just Princess Charlotte who has done it.

She said: “Carole needs to proceed with caution though as she might be on dodgy ground laying down any rules about tongue-poking as one of the royal family’s most avid fan of this pose was Charlotte’s dad William when he was her age.”

The video, uploaded by , included the caption: “Just when you thought it couldn't get any cuter than the Princess wave. Kate's reaction is absolutely priceless.”

Many amused parents were quick to gush over the clip, with one saying: “Just a normal child! You can’t control their every move. Kate's response was fantastic!”

As Princess Charlotte cheekily put her tongue out, Kate appeared to erupt into laughter – like many well-wishers.

One said: “I love Kate's reaction”, and another said “Kate blows my mind with her grace here! She is so beautiful.”

Some pointed out that Princess Charlotte was just behaving like any other mischievous youngster.

One person wrote: “Kids are the equaliser. It doesn’t matter who you are.

“Movie star, doctor, athlete, or royal, kids don’t care and it’s their world and they’re going to do what they do. And if you think otherwise...you probably don’t have kids.”

It’s not the first time Princess Charlotte has stuck her tongue out at the public.

She was snapped showing her cheeky side once more as she stuck her tongue out to the crowds gathered below for the RAF flypast in 2018.

And her uncle Prince Harry also did the sweet move back in 1987 when he was a young boy.

The royal kids looked right at home on the yachts yesterday, accompanied by grandparents Michael and Carole Middleton, as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge renewed their sporting rivalry.

Competitive Kate, 37, donned shorts to show off her athletic legs for yesterday's race - skippering a sailing boat against Prince William, also 37, for the regatta off the Isle of Wight.

But in the end it was TV adventurer Bear Grylls who took the King’s Cup, first presented by King George V.

Prince William came third while Kate was seventh - second to last.

Thursday's event was in the name of charity, with the yachts representing causes close to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's hearts.

The Cambridge family have just returned from a lavish five-star holiday to Mustique.

And Princess Charlotte previously showed off her football skills during kickabout with Prince George at dad’s polo match.
