Mum shares weight loss tips after shedding 3st in months – without giving up her fave treats
A MUM-of-two has revealed her three top weight loss tips after shedding 3st in just 12 months - without having to give up her fave treats.
Sophie Roberts, 30, tipped the scales at 17st 4lb at her heaviest - and admits she had been "obese for most of my life".
But it was when her son was born in 2015 that she realised she needed to change and since then has lost an impressive 6st in total.
Impressively, Sophie, from Sydney, Australia, managed to lose half of that in just a year - and says it was down to three crucial reasons.
She told : "The first thing I always do is I stick to the correct calories.
"Even if I want something cheeky that's not on my meal plan, if I can fit it into my calories, I'll treat myself.
"That way I don't feel like I'm being restricted or missing out."
Consistency is key
Her next trick is to be consistent - every day, week in week out.
She said: "I track everything I put into my mouth. It's a new way of life.
"Having good habits helps you ride through the times that you're feeling unmotivated. It's impossible to feel motivated every single day.
"But if you have the habits, you go through the motions until that motivation comes back."
Her third and one of her main reasons for shifting the pounds was down to preparing her meals in advance.
Sophie says she spends 20 minutes each week customising and creating a meal plan for the week ahead and then writing a shopping list.
She said: "I grocery shop on Sunday and do some snack prep ready for the week.
"If the good food is already there, there's less excuse to fall off track."

Sophie said had always struggled with her weight but it really piled on after giving birth to her first child in 2015.
She explained how she would emotionally eat, binge on junk food and would struggle to get up the stairs to her flat.
Sophie said: "I have been obese for most of my life. I’ve tried more diets than I can list, always resulting in a small loss, followed by me falling off the wagon in a spectacular style and regaining the weight, plus some.
"Finally something clicked and I was ready to make a change. I started with some calorie counting and exercise and I started losing weight."
Sophie reveals her 3 top tips for weight loss success
1. Sticking to the correct calories.
Even if I want something cheeky that’s not on my meal plan, if I can fit it into my calories, I’ll treat myself. That way I don’t feel like I’m being restricted or missing out.
2. Consistency, every day, every week

3. Planning

By 2018, she had managed to get her weight down to 12st 8lb but when she fell pregnant for a second time her weight rocketed again.
Sophie was 14st 7lb when she decided to join the Australian weight loss programme, The Healthy Mummy.
She said: "Combined with my own weight loss efforts before I found The Healthy Mummy, I have lost a total of 43kg and for the first time in my life, I'm a healthy BMI."
Sophie said she feels happier and healthier than ever and is now someone who prioritises nutrition and makes the time to exercise.
She added: "I feel in control, it has been slow, steady and consistent weight loss. I have a new lifestyle now."
But she doesn't leave a miserable life denied of her favourite foods - in fact, it's quite the opposite.
She said: You can eat sweet treats while eating healthily, you just need to do so healthily.
