Periods cost women ‘six years of great sex’ intimacy brand claims – after creating menstrual cup that can be worn during intercourse

If you can't think of anything worse than having sex on your period, you're certainly not alone.
Intimina - a Swedish feminine intimate care company - has estimated that women will "lose six years of great sex" over the course of their lives as a result of menstruation.
Because let's face it - regardless of whether you love it or hate it, period sex can be pretty messy all round.
It's for this exact reason that the brand created the Ziggy Cup - the world's first menstrual product which can be worn DURING intercourse.
Unlike other menstrual cups, the Ziggy has a flat and super thin shape which sits just below the cervix.
As part of their research, the brand revealed that the average woman will have up to 450 periods - which roughly equates to an astonishing total of 2,280 days spent menstruating.
Intimina also claimed that having an orgasm can help reduce cramps AND make periods shorter.
The research found that the "contracting of your uterus during an orgasm can help speed up the shedding period of your uterine lining."
Meanwhile, achieving an orgasm causes the body to release oxytocin (otherwise known as the "love hormone"), dopamine and endorphins - all of which help relieve period pain.
You don't need any props or special equipment - you just need some pillows and towels.
Moves include Cat-Cow, which is where you go onto all fours, arching your back and then inverting your back - pushing your bum to the ceiling.
There are also single leg stretches, back stretches, and moves which simply involve sitting with a pile of pillows on your legs as you cuddle them.
The product's creators claim the Ziggy Cup can be worn for up to 12 hours at a time - which is four hours LONGER than a tampon.
Made of medical-grade silicone, the brand recommends tilting the product towards the back of the body before pushing the rim to rest behind the pubic bone.
The cup is easily removed by gently pulling the rim around the side.
