New TV show is looking for Britain’s loudest snorers whose long-suffering partners have had enough
THERE'S nothing quite like the sound of your partner's deafening snores to put a strain on even the strongest of relationships.
Well if you feel you're nearing your breaking point (or at least frantically searching for a new place with separate bedrooms), we have some good news.
A production company is on the hunt for Britain's LOUDEST snorers to participate in a new television series.
Although the details of the show are remaining largely under wraps, it's likely to follow the format of a sleep clinic.
An advert for the unnamed show - which is being produced by Firecracker Films - read: "Is your partner's snoring ruining your life?
"Is sleep a long and distant memory? If so, we want to hear from you.
What causes snoring?
- Snoring is caused by the soft tissue in your head and neck vibrating as you breathe in while sleeping
- The soft tissue it can affect includes nasal passages, the soft palate, the base of the tongue and the tonsils
- As you get your nightly rest, the airways in your neck and head relax and narrow, which increases the speed at which you breathe
- This also changes the air pressure in your airways, which in turn causes the soft tissue to vibrate, causing the snoring sound
- The vibrations that happen during snoring are thought to weaken blood vessels and muscles in the head and neck
- This further reduces the ability of the airways to keep open, meaning snoring is likely to be more frequently and even louder
"Firecracker Films is making an exciting new show for a major terrestrial broadcaster and we're looking for some of Britain's biggest and loudest snorers.
"We want to hear from fed-up partners who've simply had enough."
Neither the title of the show or what channel it will be aired on has been revealed - however, Firecracker Films are the brains behind Channel 4's The Sex Clinic and Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.
Filming for the show is due to start in September and participants must be aged over 18 and can apply .
Alternatively, if you need a quicker fix (or don't fancy appearing on national TV) then this £10 plant from ASDA caused a stir earlier this year when it was revealed that it could STOP you snoring.
Pineapple plants are said to reduce snoring thanks to their night-time oxygen production.
In fact, according to NASA studies, pineapple plants also improve air quality throughout the night and therefore aid better and quieter sleep.
