In the raw shots taken by photographer Mandy Parks and shared to , the couple can be seen holding hands in a green field.

Charlie, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, wears a pink ball gown with her blonde hair styled into curls.

She then sits down at a traditional wooden dressing table with pink rose petals and a pair of pink boxing gloves placed in front of the mirror.

Her husband Kelsey, wearing a grey shirt, jeans and baseball cap, proceeds to use a razor to shave off her hair, ahead of her chemotherapy treatment.

Mandy shows the pair become increasingly emotional, as more and more of Charlie's locks drop onto the grass.

In pictures taken later in the shoot, she can be seen with her dress removed and wearing the boxing gloves - indicating her upcoming battle to fight her condition.

Captioning the images, the Arkanas-based photographer writes: "I don't know who needs to see this today. Or yesterday. Or someone you know might get this phone call tomorrow.

"Show them what strength looks like. Let them know they are not alone. Stand by them as they kick this like the warrior they are!

Many of those leaving messages also shared photos of their own bald heads from chemotherapy and revealed how they had "needed" to see these images.

One person wrote: "These pictures are gorgeous and brought tears to my eyes. I did a photo shoot right before my double mastectomy because I didn’t know if my body would look different or if my hair would fall out.

"I just wanted pictures of what I looked like before cancer took some things from me. Cancer can’t take the strong, fighter out of me, it may take my breasts and hair but it won’t change me!"

Another commented: "I sooo needed this Charlie Johnson. Yesterday I was quite sick at work and my wig was amplifying a chemo headache so I took it off.

"I wanted to crawl under my desk and hide. I was afraid people would judge me because of my bald head."

Replying to the post, Charlie wrote: "My heart smiles knowing you received some form of comfort from my post.

"My whole goal was to hopefully help someone feel the hope, empowerment and support to be beautiful even in our sickness. Cancer does not define us! We are strong because we are women! You are beautiful!!"
