HUNDREDS of dancers have attended a group "ballet class" outside the Good Morning America studio in New York after host Lara Spencer shamed Prince George's love of dance.
Last week, the third-in-line to the throne was cruelly mocked by the morning television host after we revealed that he will be taking weekly ballet classes at £18,ooo-a-year St Thomas's School in Battersea.
Discussing the Prince's school curriculum, Lara said: "The future king of England will be putting down the Playdoh to take on Religious Studies, computer programming poetry and ballet among other things."
Trying to stifle her laughter, the host added: "Prince William says George absolutely loves ballet, I have news for you Prince William we’ll see how long that lasts."
Although Lara has since apologised for her comments (and told George to "GO FOR IT"), yesterday a group of 300 dancers gathered in Times Square in New York to support Prince George and prove that "boys dance too".
A number of professional dancers led the class which was attended by both female dance enthusiasts and boys not much older than Prince George himself.
Sharing footage of the lesson on , professional dancer Alex Wong wrote: "300 DANCERS showed up for ballet class this morning in Times Square in front of Good Morning America!!
"I am so proud and overwhelmed with the support from the dance community standing together on such an important issue. I almost didn't start dancing when I was young - I constantly said 'dancing is only for girls'.
"It took 2 years for my parents to convince me and I'm so glad I did. I hope the next generation of boys don't have to deal with the same type of bullying a lot of us had to deal with - we will not stand for it!"
What's more, celebrities and professional dancers have rallied around the royal in the wake of Lara's comments.
Former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips criticised the "shameful, outdated, harmful attitude being broadcast to the masses".
X Factor choreographer Brian Friedman was equally appalled and wrote on Instagram: "See this cute face, the future King of England?
"This adorable boy is being shamed by a grown woman on National Television in America for taking ballet!"
Yesterday Gene Kelly's widow blasted the "bully" for mocking the Prince over his love of ballet.
Patricia Ward Kelly penned an open letter saying her late husband (famous for his role in Singin' in the Rain) would have been “devastated” by presenter Lara Spencer’s cruel comments.
Last year, Prince William told finalists of the BBC Radio 1's Teen Hero awards that his eldest son is also a keen dancer like Princess Diana and had been loving his ballet lessons at school.
