Eating PIZZA for breakfast is better for diet than having sugary cereal, expert claims
MOST people are guilty of enjoying a slice or two of cold leftover pizza for breakfast after a heavy night out.
However, it turns out that the cheesy Italian treat may now actually be better and more nutritious for you than a simple bowl of cereal.
Dietitian Chelsey Amer has revealed that we no longer need to feel regretful about eating pizza in the morning as it is actually more of a balanced breakfast than a bowl of sugary cereal.
She told : "Surprisingly, pizza can be a more balanced breakfast option than many sugar-filled breakfast cereals.
"A slice of plain cheese pizza contains a balance of carbs, protein, and fat.
"A bowl of sugary cereal with low fat milk is largely sugar and extremely carb-heavy."
Despite this, Chelsey emphasised that she isn't recommending pizza as an "everyday breakfast" but urging people to think more about the nutritional values of the food they're putting into their bodies.
She added: "Focus on a balance of high fibre carbohydrates, lean protein, and healthy fast to stay full throughout the morning."

It comes after Jason Bull, sales director for Eurostar Commodities and managing director of Bite UK, also claimed that there is “no better time than breakfast” to enjoy a slice of pizza.
Jason, an expert in flour and rice from around the world, said: "The nutritional value of pizza in general is carbohydrates.
"Typically, with breakfast being the most important meal of the day, you need carbs within that.
"A lot of people won’t want to eat pizza for breakfast, as typically people view it as unhealthy.
"But if you think about places like Italy, pizza is understood as a different culinary concept.
"There they eat pizza at all times of the day, and there are different pizzas for different times of the day.
"In the Roma region for breakfast they eat what’s called Pizza Impala which is a pizza where you get 90 per cent water into it if you use the correct flour.
"It’s very light, aerated and very crispy, and they’ll put low fat meats, raw vegetables and low fat cheese and things like that on top of it.

"Then they’ll sell it by the slice and you’ll pay by weight, so that’s what they’ll eat for breakfast, as opposed to the kind of pizza that we would typically eat in the evening."
Pussycat Doll and Strictly Come Dancing star Ashley Roberts recently revealed that the secret behind her slim figure is pizza.
She says she eats the classic Italian dish normally once a week and says she won't ever "beat herself up" for eating her favourite food.
