Stay-at-home mum flogs her kids’ toys on eBay to fund her own £700 private cocktail bar complete with wine rack and crystal glasses
A STAY-AT-HOME mum has flogged her kids' toys to clear up space - and money - for her very own private cocktail bar.
Rebecca Rushworth, from Blackpool, Lancs, spent £700 on the glamorous drinking venue - complete with a wine rack, LED bar sign and crystal glasses.
But her kids Sienna, five, and Frankie, three, weren't exactly chuffed when they lost their toy cafe to the elaborate scheme, which took six weeks to complete.
Taking to Facebook, the 34-year-old showed off the results of the transformation - which she dreamt up while drinking wine one night.
Rebecca explained: "I’ve been pondering what to do with this wasted space under my stairs for some time now.
"I’m on Pinterest daily, and these home bars kept popping up! So it was obvious I had to make it happen.
"After a few wines I’d booked the joiners & eBayed some s***e!
"Saying that most of the items I used to dress it, I had at home anyway, stuffed away in cupboards.
"I really do love it, it creates a fab talking point and gives me more reasons to drink wine. Just need some mates around now to enjoy it."
Mum-of-two Rebecca also detailed her thrifty purchases, including a £1 cactus from Poundland, £5.99 fairy lights from the Range and a £30 light-up BAR sign.
Other mums gushed about the transformation on Facebook, writing: "That's ace!", "Omg love it" and "Interior design is your calling. This is just gorgeous."
Speaking today, Rebecca admitted: "The children were not best pleased, they want their shop back, but I secretly sold it. My little boy asked if it was party time again."
She added: "The children weren't using the shop any more and it was a bit of a dumping ground and a wasted space.
"We ended up with bags and shoes there, so I thought 'I'm going to do a wine cellar', but it was so expensive to get the glass in.
"Then I thought I could just do my own cocktail bar. I saved all the things really cheaply and we had old crystal glasses and bits and bobs from a while back.
"I just thought it looked quite trendy and quirky and when you put it all together it looks good.
"It's given me a bit of a bug really, I have just started buying cheap furniture to do up.
"We haven't used it yet, but I just said to my husband we need to get testing it!"
We previously reported on a dad who built his daughter an amazing garden bar for FREE by using old fence panels – and it only took him a week.
While this mum transformed her spare bedroom into a glam ‘woman cave’ with bar and neon lights with just £400 in a WEEK.
