Sneaky husband tricks his wife by swapping Hellman’s mayonnaise for Aldi’s 75p version for a year – and claims she’s none the wiser

AS we're sure all devout condiment fans will agree, you can ALWAYS tell the difference between your favourite branded sauces and cheaper versions. Right?

However, one cheeky bloke has thrown our entire belief system into question after he claimed to have filled his wife's Hellman's mayonnaise bottle with Aldi's 75p version for an entire YEAR - and reckons she was none the wiser.

The cheeky husband came clean on when he posted a picture of himself appearing to fill his wife's bottle of Hellman's "Lighter" mayo with Aldi's budget-friendly alternative.

The anonymous user wrote: "Piping the Aldi mayo into the same Hellman's bottle we've had for a year so the missis will not know she's a Commoner."

Unsurprisingly, the post racked up hundreds of comments from amused Reddit users - with many pointing out he was putting full fat mayonnaise into Hellman's "lighter" bottle.

One replied: "Full fat into a Lighter bottle. Devious."

Another joked: "That's illegal but genius."

However, not everyone found the man's money-saving approach so funny - with one writing: "If someone swapped lighter mayo for full-fat mayo I would be livid. All the extra calories I'd consume without knowing it..."

"This disgusts me in a way I can't explain," another replied.

Meanwhile, one passionate mayonnaise fan revealed how users can tell the difference between branded condiments and cheap alternatives.

"These are the three ways to tell if a mayo is good mayo," they wrote. "Colour - it should be off white.

"Dip test - if you put a chip in and it comes back out with mayo on, it's a good consistency.

"Taste - Heinza and Hellman's have nailed it. You get the odd one that's okay but most of the time they are not good."
